I'm looking for reasonably priced 5.6 or 9mm pump diodes for experimenting with/resurrecting green DPSS lasers, any tips?

i too wish there would be something easier than ebay, too full of "not sure what diodes these are" or "as-is" untested lasers

Well he said reasonably priced. You can order direc tfrom places like MFGCN.com, but the prices may not be to your liking...

Actually, there ARE better places than ebay.
S-KY can help you out, contact drlava as he gets discounts from them. I was looking at a 2 watt Cmount for $80.

snoctony is FLEABAY QUALITY

I would buy from s-ky any day.

Tell me what the hell a fast Axis lens is??? That's plain simple BULLSHIT.
You should know better than to stick up for an ebay laser over a proven company. I mean, if they're the only option, then whatever, but this is silly.

Hemlock - Lava quoted me that, I don't know.

BlueFusion: do you mean that the diodes that snoctony sells on ebay are bad quality?

I need one or a couple of 500mW 808's in 5.6mm cans to experiment a bit with, any ideas of the prices?

i believe he sells quality products. several people from here have purchased his diodes. he carries a fair amount of stock and it sells out within days.

check on his feedback to get an idea of prices

if i had income i would have ordered several diodes from him already. i would order crystals too and try to make my own green >200mw pointer for about $100 (i think he had the appropriate crystals for that, not sure if he has the right diodes though)

fast axis http://www.plttechnology.com/product.htm

I checked out his feedback, seems to be reasonable prices, 10$ for a 200mW, 35$ for a 500mW and 55 for a 1W 808.
Is TO-18 the 5.6mm package and TO-5 9mm?

Why is that bullshit?  Typical edge emitting laser diodes have an emitting aperture that is rectangular shaped which results in a laser beam with an elliptical cross section. The long axis of the ellipse is commonly referred to as the "fast axis" of the beam, and the short axis of the ellipse is commonly referred to as the "slow axis" of the beam.  I would assume a fast axis lens to mean a lens which corrects the elliptical shape of the beam to something more symmetrical.  Sounds like a worthwhile feature to me...

I hope that seller puts up more diodes after the Chinese New Year is over, I would really like to fry some old DX green crystals! :)
