So I think I just killed a diode by putting the battery in the wrong way

I was not paying attention and I put the battery in reversed in a 500mw violet beam pointer. I think that killed it. Any hope for this thing, or is it spare parts for a new host?

i surpose you dont know if the driver has reverse polarity protection?

you can test the diode with a variable regulated power supply, it will act as the driver.

Nah, it was a $75 job from China (lazerpoint.com 500mw waterproof purple). Probably not.

Thanks, Fiddy. I'll run down to 7-11 and grab a variable regulated power supply. Just kidding :)

EDIT:

Damn, I bashed the diode out of the heatsink, and then found out it was the crappy board that was fried. Oh well, I used it as a host for a >2w diode w/ Aixiz boost driver and it burns things now. :)
