Hi, everyone, I am new to this forum, and I've been reading a lot.

I created my first laser pointer following the tutorial from this website:

http://www.i-hacked.com/content/view/272/90/

Then I wanted to build another one, so I bought the Sliver kit from Dark Horse http://mysite.verizon.net/grall/darkhorsecustom/id75.html
but I could not find any tutorials on how to build it.

So I decided to go on and try it by myself so I came out with this little tutorial,
I hope somebody can use it. Some pictures have some text explaining what I did, but
Most of the instructions that I followed from the website above apply to this one.

Thanks! To All of YOU! I'm now really HOOKED to this hobby... :)

Got to show ya a cool trick instead of labels :

Using a toner transfer method.
:gj: for your lasers!

It's called toner transfer. Basicly, you use a specail paper, on wich you print a design using a laser printer, and than you heat transfer it using an iron. Got the paper at a local electronic supply store. It's also used to make PCBs. It will work on any surface that wont melt under the iron, and that don't dissolve into water, since you use hot water to relase it. 4$ a sheet, but you can tape small pieces on regular paper to print it.
Pretty simlar to what you find here, it's called on the website "press and peel wet"
Website : www.techniks.com

I could even dip this in an acid vat (partially, not all the part) and dissolve the metal were it's not printed. It would leave a raised design. But I don't want to risk wasting the piece.

Thanks for the info, I happen to have some of those "press and peel" Sheets.

I think I will try it to see how it looks.

Thanks, again.

Ok, Thanks.
I have some of those "press and peel blue",
Do you know if they will do the job?

Thanks!!

I herd that you could also use the cheap glossy leaflets you get put through your door, since they are printed using laser printers, it shouldn't effect the toner printing on it :)

I saw a tutorial on it some place for making PCB's. Never though of doing it on metal, might give it a try. I guess to print it onto a curved surface you could use a heatgun or something.

Ya, this is a tail cap, the surface is flat. You NEED to apply pressure.
By the way, paper designed for this application works better

I just changed the labels on my three toys. ;)

It is not the same as yours BuildAbluraylaser but I like them. These were printed
in Avery clear labels.

I will try your technique another day, when I have more time. :D :D :D

Thanks!!!

Looks great, Read my tutorial before trying. Also, press-n-peal blue leaves a blue (the releasing agent) coating on the toner. Not the best for the job. You need one that releases with water.
