Was just about to email you, but the community might be able to help more with the answers to these questions. First, as a non PL-C owner, pictures of the interior and rear of the tailcap would be great. How deep do you have to press the switch?

As far as the replacement switch goes, you're going to have to break in before you decide unless somebody's done it before and saved a part number or you're willing to make a switch fit with drilling/epoxy. Every time I've swapped a switch in a flashlight, I break the old one out, take measurements, and look for a match online. They're usually pretty standard in the end though. I've never seen anything exceptionally unique.

pic showing style of switch and tiny screw-only one I could find.
Present red clicky must be gently pressed to make it work --[

I thought you were talking about a tailcap switch which are usually on-off (SPDT/SPST). That picture and your description sounds like it's a momentary switch. It looks fairly small. Can you take a picture with a ruler next to it or provide the dimensions?

Also, the current handling requirement of a momentary switch could vary quite a bit depending on how it's connected. Small (e.g. micro-switches) typically handle low current and when used to switch higher currents they can be used to trigger another circuit/relay.

Is PL-C a Jetlaser? What's the wavelength and output power (have a link?) - that could provide some insight on the drive current which might be an upper value for a momentary switch.

Yeah. I was under the impression it was a tailcap pushbutton switch. A momentary switch does change things. I wouldn't say current is as big a limiter as size and profile though. It may be a complicated SMD on a driver board as well.

Could you also show a photo of the interior of the laser near the switch?
