I'm new here, so if this is in the wrong place, please let me know. I am currently trying to build a laser, and I have the schematic for the LM317 driver, however, I am looking for schematics for other deivers and i cannot find any. Can anyone help me out? Tnaks!

Thanks for the help, however, I am looking to build my own driver, any help?

Well, the only other thing I can think of is checking out the http://laserpointerforums.com/f67/ section. There is a lot of good info over there. (but you've probably already found it). Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

the LM317 driver is the main DIY driver here... although there are a couple other more complicated ones. but the flexdrive, along with all of dr.lava's other drivers, are NOT DIY, just for sale pre-assembled (correct me if im wrong).

You are correct.

By spelling "NOT DIY" all in caps is implying the DIY driver shematics is what you are looking for???

It didn't state you wanted to build your own driver anywhere.

Because by the title of your thread it say you're looking for a schematic for flexdrive, HELP! That was the link I provided to you.

haha sorry. thanks kevlar, i wasnt making any sense... what i MEANT to say was that the flexdrive isnt something that you'd put together yourself. i guess i misunderstood the point of the thread anyway. why do you need the schematic for the flexdrive, did you buy one already? you might be able to figure it out from dr.lava's pdf: hi, i'm dr.lava's pdf!

Do you mean "pen-sized" (drivers that can fit in the aixiz host or in a pen host) only ? ..... or also "lab-style" drivers ?

Flexdrive uses the TPS63010 IC, that is a "micro-BGA" case ..... almost impossible to use in a hobbystic environment, at least if you don't have a BGA soldering machine or an oven soldering assembly at home .....

Ha I never asked this question because i thought it was a confidential info :)
Does anybody care to do part by part break on all the FlexDrive's components? It would be very interesting.

gillza, please do not request or do this, it is confidential info. However there are lots of instructions here for the OP if he wants to DIY a driver. Since he's into DIY, he should not try to copy a driver, but understand one and the 'DDL' lm317 based one is a good start.

How is your skill in SMD mounting ?

If no other, you can try to build a sink-type constant current driver like the one in my album ..... not the easiest thing, but can be done in small size too (linear, anyway, no boost ones yet)

Dr. Lava,

Let me assure you, I had no intentions for revers-engineering your creations to make a profit out of it. I would not know where to start. That question was curiosity driven and that is all to it. I was aware that there MAY be copyright issues and my post mentions that. Thank you for clarifying it for me.

Igor.

Thanks for all the help, I've built a LM317, and it's great. Drlava, I just wanted to build it for myself, I didn't want to try and sell them.

Why? There is no economic advantage to doing so ... What do you seek to accomplish with said endevour? If you truly want to learn about designing constant current switchers read the thread I linked to earlier, there is a link to a TI app note on how to make them using the TPS63000 as an example ... Heck I might feel generous and sell you a pcb to build your own. Do you have the proper tools like a hot air station?

It's suspicious bc you first post on this forum is about copying a commercial product and it's intellectual property. It doesn't matter if you are not going to sell it. If you did any searching you would have come across other DIY switching driver projects in this forum.

my thing is I make things from scratch, I read that the flexdrive was a better driver than the LM317, and I wanted to see if it would be possible to build one myself. I guess I didn't go about asking the right way.
