Rkcstr Groove playing up.. need help! ***ALL FIXED***

**ALL FIXED NEVERMIND**

ok.. well I bought a "kit" from a member here and it had (i think) an older version of the Rkcstr groove.. I made up a "dummy load" and to my suprise I was getting wierd readings.. basically the pot will reduce the current down to around 133ma then kick back up to ~400ma+. I can not get it to go below 130ma. I have read the Rkcstr groove manual and it says something along the lines of.. if you reduce the voltage input you will get lower currents, but I also read on the forum you need ~12v input for use with a bluray diode..

I have also spoken with another member on the forum about this issue and he thinks the pot could be broken..

I'm using the MXDL "kit" I bought, which uses 3x 3.6v batteries which puts out around 12.5v.

So basically these are the things I want to know

1) can I get lower current if I use lower voltage (is that even possible?)
2) can the pot on the groove be replaced? (if so, part no. please :D)
3) is there any thing I can do physically to drop the current (diode, resistors ect.. if so what combination will I need to drop around 20-30ma)

If it is not worth fixing or trying to work this out is there any one willing to swap their driver for mine.. mine will only do from 133ma ++ and works perfectly except for the jumping problem at low current. So for example if you have a diode that needs 320ma.. would you swap me your driver for mine so I can get lower current?

pm me any offers and i will sort out shipping, payments and stuff..

Thank you so much in advance! -Adrian

Take some pictures of the Rkcstr driver. He's released different versions over time, and we don't know which is which. Some even have two different current range settings.

if you think the pots broken just ask ryan to send you aqnother one. hes a great guy and will probably do it for the cost of shipping. ive ran br diodes with 7.2v before just make sure your not using something with high voltage requirements like an 8x diode..

Responded to PM.

FYI, this is a "high range" driver. The intended output range is 130-430mA, which is why it won't go any lower than 130mA.

Also, no biggie, but you may be confusing people with the "groove" in the name. The "Groove" is DrLava's linear-type driver.

yeah my bad.. it was given to me in the kit and i was told it was a rkcstr groove.. so yeah sorry for the confusion.. i have bought a new rull range driver and will be using that! thanks for the quick and detailed reply Rkcstr really appresiate it! -Adrian

you can also play with the smd resistors to gain different min. max. currents.

try removing the 20.5ohm resistor.
