RGB or RG:Y questions

I am in the process of organizing my thoughts for a handheld RGB or RG:Y build. I have not fully decided. I do know I want the output at max 15mw. It will likely be less if possible.

My first question is are there turned down modules I can install the diodes into to make it shorter? Or should I use the square ones I have seen that are not press fit but drop in the square module and screw on back plate? I like how the normal modules protect the diode pins. I'd like to not encase the driver in the module so if there are "module tail caps" that are shorter that would just protect the pins only that would be great.

I am also trying to decide if I want to do Side by Side in a triagle shape, or do I want to 90 degree one module. What is easier to align?

The White Fusion kit is just too expensive for me for the end cosmetics. I'll attempt to DIY it before I consider going that route.

Yellow/Light Orange is really what I am after.
