check the voltage of the batteries.. maybe one of them is defective..
if the batteries are OK maybe you killed the diode. did you use duty cycle?

Did you used duty cycle? (cool the diode before light up the laser again)
how much time it was continuously ON at the maximum?

It's probably a defective battery, the dilda is very though, I've yet to kill one even when I left one on for 20 minutes with 4,2 batteries. The probability that a battery busted is much greater.

Try measuring the current. It should be around 300-400mA's from the batteries. Sometimes when you discharge them below around 2.9v it will permanently damage them.

I have a 808nm 1w diode and its soldered to a flex drive, and its dim. could a dead diode be the problem?

First off, 808nm is infrared and is barely visible to the naked eye. If you ever have a problem with something, search around in the forum as no one wants to spoon-feed people who are too lazy to even search around on the forum. No offense intended, but you will be looked down upon for not even knowing what 808nm light is: infrared, and barely visible light.

Also, if you are running an infrared diode at 1W, PLEASE tell me you have safety glasses. Even if you can't see the light, it is still VERY dangerous and will easily hurt your retina without you noticing.

Lastly, if you can't find an answer to a problem, please create your own thread in the respective section of the forum, or no one will ever notice what you have posted.

I figured it was 808nm. I've questioned it before, it use to emit a brighter light. I've had it for about a year and a half. This is my second build.
I just decided to build a second out of spare parts laying around. So I'm assuming for this forum that its dying? I was looking around the forums and found this one, so I wanted to make sure that was the problem by asking.
What's up your ass dude? I just asked a question.
