Alright so I bought the www.rayfoss.com and I got it today (in 3 days with UPS lol). Anyways, Faona said that the parcel with the battery and charger will come separate but whenever I go to check the status of that parcel on haopost, it says "Print" and hasn't changed since the first day I ordered (May 14th). Also, the tailcap had the lanyard attached but it did not come with the key to turn it for ON and OFF, and I dont know what to do basically. I think it's in the ON position so its no biggie but thats just a FYI. I tried emailing her 3 times but I got no response. Although, she always answered my emails within 1-2 days, sometimes even hours but I need a quick answer.

Last question, the site says it uses the 18650 battery but since I dont know the status of my parcel and don't know any stores in New York that sell them, I was wondering if I can use some other type of battery in the meanwhile. Thanks.

It usually take 20 days or so to receive a package from Rayfoss. Overseas tracking sucks. I've seen it say it is still in Hong-Kong and I have it in my hand.
If the key is not on, it can be by-passed easily.
I do not believe there is a substitute for a 18650, that you could find over-the-counter. You'll just have to wait.

Ok thanks. I think the tailcap is already in the ON position because the lock is facing the green button so that might not be a problem. I don't want to pester you with more battery question so thanks alot more the quick response.

That doesn't mean you should let it go though. Make sure they send you everything you ordered. :yh:

Yea I emailed back with pictures of everything in the box and am now waiting for a response. This key really wont matter if I can find something to turn the lock, such as two bobby pins or what have you.

If it's already switched on you are probably better off leaving it on and removing the batteries or something instead. Best not get it stuck off! But yeah, make sure you get the keys you paid for!

Is leaving the tailcap in ON position in anyway negative? I don't even have the batteries yet (god knows where that package is) so I can't put in batteries even if I tried to. I'm contemplating finding a place online to buy some good ones because I'll need another one as a backup or whatever. Know of any good places to buy and types to buy lol? :thanks:

Well Faona responded some time while I was sleeping and she said she'd going to ask the person who packaged the battery and charger if they put the key in there too. If not, she will send one out for free.

AW cells are expensive, but work just fine. One important thing that you must consider is if a protected cell will fit in your laser. Due to the added protection circuit, protected cells have a longer OAL than regular cells. They won't allow some lasers tailcaps to fully screw down due to the extra length.

About the charger and battery / rayfoss issue: I got a laser with no charger or battery as well. When I contacted her about it, I got the same story from her. She supposedly asked her associate if he had packed the battery and charger and the associate said yes they were sent with the laser. But I did not get a battery or charger.

Anyway, post a clear picture of your laser with a piece of paper showing your screen name and todays date visble near the laser (just show me you have the laser and are really you). Then PM me your address. I'll send you a battery or two. I have a gang of fully tested laptop pulls that I am sending out tomorrow for another laser related courtesy, so I could spare one or two for you if you'd like.

These are the same ones I plan to buy.

Well I ordered them today morning and they shipped same time since I ordered before 1PM CST. I know they are longer than unprotected but since the status of the battery & charger from rayfoss is unknown, I'll deal with a safe battery and just keep the tail cap slightly loosened. I shipped it with USPS Priority mail so it should come sometime this week.
