Hopefully DTR himself will be along to answer this, if he doesn't see this then you can email him at the address on the home page of his site. Since the maximum suggested current is 300mA I wouldn't be surprised if it is set at 250mA but I don't know.

No need to be paranoid, that's not so much current. Any 18650 will last long enough at that power level. This would be perfect for a C6 build.
