Pulsed LD Spiro

I am Wanting to build a LD driver that i can make pulse faster and slower and i want to shine the laser into a spiro and see if i get some cool patterns,.. i have been searching the forums for a few hours and cant seem to find a schematic for a pulsed LD driver, I found lots of post talking about them but no schematic so any help with that would be greatly appreciated!

P.S. i want to be able to turn the pulse on and off, and when the pulse is off just straight laser beam.

The simplest way I have done that in the past has been to use a commercial laser with TTL modulation capability ( for example: AixiZ These are capable of more than 100mW output ) and then build a 555 pulse generator (555 Pulse Generator) and use that to pulse the laser through it's TTL inputs.

I definitely second Elektro's idea. 555 timers are simple to build and understand for the novice and perfect for this type of application where accuracy isn't essential.
