Problem with the tailcap of my new laser.

Hello everyone,

I received my new 1.5W blue laser yesterday. Very happy with everything, but there's a small problem with the tailcap.

Here's a picture of the position I need to have the tailcap in relation to the battery/laser to get a connection and for it to turn on. Part of the tailcap needs to be touching the host, and the spring needs to be touching the bottom (negative end) of the battery. if I do that in a specific way it lights up, but if I screw the tailcap on, it does not turn on.



Has anyone else had this problem and knows of a simple fix? I can put a piece of foil over the battery and get a connection that way, but that doesn't allow it to be turned off which isn't very safe.

Try screwing the cap on tighter or working it
in and out until a connection is made. It
could also be something going on with the
switch causing the connection to be lost
when the cap is screwed on. Try checking
it with a continuity tester.

I've tried screwing the cap on tighter and working it until a connection is made, but unless I have it positioned as it is in the pic I posted it just doesn't turn on.

I don't have access to a continuity tester but will ask around and see if anyone I know has one.

Have you tried it with the cap not screwed on real tightly, maybe backed off a couple of turns?
If the battery is a little long, it may be too much force on the switch. It's just another option to try.
Does the cap screw on as far with the battery in place as it does with no battery installed?

I hadn't tried it when it isn't screwed on tightly, but I have now you've suggested it and it didn't work

And yes, the cap seems to screw on the same amount regardless if the batteries are in the laser or not.

Check to see if the switch is loose in the housing. I had an issue with a. Flashlight similar to this and all I had to do was tighten the ring that secures the switch inside the tailcap with a set of snap ring pliers.

The switch is indeed loose. I wasn't sure if it was meant to be or not though. I'm not sure how to get to it inside the tailcap, but I'll try to figure it out.
