Hey guys, I've been looking through some websites lately, selling laser drivers.

They labeled a part "Power +" and then another "TTL +", same with the negative poles, although they're mostly on the same square.

Question: If i were to connect a battery holder with positive and negative leads to the driver, do i connect them to the "Power +" and "Power -" parts on the PCB?

And what does the "TTL" bits do? Are they used in pen-style lasers where there is a spring at the end of the driver? I'm guessing that the case somehow conducts the current and closes the circuit?

The "TTL" circuit is used to "start and stop" the light when used in a "show" type setting. Pen style laser would not need to utilize the TTL.

Check to see if your TTL is "power = light" or "no power = light" to decide whether you need to put power to the TTL.

What do you mean by "Show setting"?

And how do those pen-lasers like those from DX have a complete circuit? AFAIK the negative pole of the batteries go to the spring, and the positive to the battery case, but how is the battery case connected to the positive pole on the driver?

like in scanners and in concert lighting where you have the laser turning off and on.

usually the module will be either case negitive or positive. in the case for a green laser module the negitive terminal of the battery touches the spring and the positive touchs the case, the case then touchs the module (which is case positive) and completes the circuit..

So the positive lead doesn't even touch the driver then? And how would one make the module case positive?

Thanks for your explanation, really cleared it up. And sorry for the truckload of questions :(

Through the body of the diode itself, that is pressed in a metal holder, that is in contact with the case of the laser ..... if i have understood correctly your question :)

The green modules are case positive, cause the IR diode in the module have the anode connected to the case, where instead the red ones are case negative, just cause the red diode have the cathode connected to the case.
