It's been quite terrible. Friday was the worst day of my life (not kidding). Cute kid:) Mine are 19 and 21 and no grandkids yet but I am kind of looking forward to it.
Yeah. my name is fitting isn't it. Actually didn't start out having anything to do with my kidney problems but it is now VERY apropriate LOL (actually been apropriate for 25 years now that I think back to how long I've been dealing with it. That sounds about right since I think the issue first started when I was about 23.

I have always been a giving person just as I believe my friend Lazerbeak has been (not that there are not MANY others here that are also). I enjoy helping where I can and sharing what I've learned. There's so many ways to do things that no one has tried yet. My favorite is to try to help out as many people as I can by showing what's possible with very little $. It would be great if eveyone could afford the big ticket items but there's so much to offer on the other end. It was thought to be practically impossible to mod the cheapo ebay pens not too many months ago and I was mocked by some basically saying that it was a scam. I DO NOT PLAY THOSE KINDS OF GAMES and was very offended but pretty much kept my mouth shut. Funny how I never heard a peep from them once the tutorial went up;) Unfortunately some people kust cannot understand what makes someone like the beak and I tick. Their loss. Feel sorry for them.

People assume I must have tons of money sitting around also and this is just not so. Hopefully I'll be back to work on Wednesday as the 1.5 weeks with no pay isn't good.

The saying goes "give til it hurts". I say "Give til it feels good". It may be a hard concept to grasp but the latter will always give more.

/\ /\ I trust your LPM over mine at this point. Now I know why I get low readings on some of my lasers, just have to save for an Ophir based LPM. I was going to send a unit to Livinloud, to compare readings. If it's off by this much at 114, it must really be off at 3000.

Yeah that's my little jr. Anthony! I've been hoping on this thread from time to time and I'm just blown away. Had a discussion with my gf about the situation and we've decided we need friends like this! Come to the conclusion that morphine must make you generous lol do to our disbelief of the lengths you go to benefit the community. ( totally kidding) grand kids hopefully will come soon. Don't worry pop pop, you'll have little munchkins running around chasing 5mw dots in no time!

Pman doesn't mean anything really. Pete Man I suppose....

Doesn't neccesarily mean there's anything wrong with your LPM so I wouldn't be overly concerned yet.

tmackbb4 send me your address in a PM. Pete has the urge to send you something:)

Pman you have gone above and beyond the spirit of these forums.
I can not match your generosity, but I can do something special.
I'm sending you something that with 99.9% certainty, I can say you have never seen or held in your hand. A piece of history. Also something you my already may have.

Alright I've kinda been lurking this thread for the last day or so and now I figure Pman is the right guy to ask. I'm planning my first build using an Ultra Fire flashlight as a host, I don't really have a preference on the wavelength just want to find something good for fairly cheap. Looking for at least 100-200mw range but more is always better. What would you recommend for my first build?

Being totally completely honest, I don't know what to recommend Light. There's so much stuff out there. It's a good idea to look at what others are offering such as Jayrob who sells outstanding kits. If nothing else, it will give you so many possibilities that your head will swim.
There are so many great builders here and if you look at my sig you will see a few of them. Easy to recommend Blord for a top quality complete build and he's also a great person. There are many others though.
The possibilities are endless!!!

All I can say is thanks Antharak. I totally honestly expect NOTHING in return for anything I do so PLEASE no one feel obligated to me. I'm just glad I was able to do something for a few more people. Just because I saw a peak of 114mw on my Ophir doesn't mean there's anything at all wrong with your unit by the way. If you have the LPM I am thinking of, it's like 35 seconds or so to get a lot closer to the actual output and with these inexpensive modules it is VERY likely you missed the peak output by quite a bit of time.
This is why having an Ophir sensor is a big deal especially with 532nm which are all over the place. I also have a TEC based unit as backup in case anything happens. The TEC based one is actually decently accurate but of course has that time delay for full output reading and it can't follow changes well because it is always playing catchup.
I got my sensor from a really nice guy awhile back when he felt sorry for me for trying to help others out with stuff and I couldn't. Out of the blue someone I had never heard of contacts me in a PM and offered me a brand new one for very little $ and I wouldn't reveal who he was because I didn't want others to try to go after him for them (he had a few more) as a few people who used to be members before my time on here had ripped him off really bad. He did later reveal himself. Extremely intelligent man by the way (engineer) who had seen and built and done things for the military that I've never heard of from anyone else.
Wow, I've got to try and contact my friend and see how he is doing now that I think of it. I haven't talked to him in many months. Feel bad now, thanks a lot ;)

Pete

Heading out to get my stent taken out. I should get relief from feeling like I'm peeing razor blades/barbed wire....

Just a side note to remember that there's so much interesting stuff you can do without spending big $. I'll post a few things I've messed with later. I love to mess with the low powered 532nm as they are always impressive compared to other nm for so little bucks.

Gotta GO!!!

Just got back and let me tell you, it was VERY unpleasant.
Not only that but the pain during taking a leek is 4 x worse at the moment. It's supposed to go away within a day or two but I don't believe that is going to happen in my case. Shouldn't hurt this bad after taking it out. At least the kidney pain isn't as bad.

Just to add my update: the kit full of goodies was delivered to me today. A lot, and I mean it, a lot of useful stuff in the package for flashlights/pen laser builds. I'm simply impressed by the extend of your broad-mindedness, Pete:bowdown:. Not something you can see every day not only in the forums, but in real life, either. Especially considering what you're going through atm.

A simple :thanks: is not enough for me to type, but is meant frankly!

Wish a lot of patience and strength throughout your recovery, man:).

PMAN said tomorrow for mine. Unbelievable guy. PMAN is definitely one of a kind. We all have to arrange a way to really say thanks.
