I didn't want to open a new thread since I really used this tutorial but since I didn't have exactly the same module and I don't have any lithiums that will fit I had to improvise a little.

First I'd like to talk about the module itself and why I chose to use it. I carry my laser everywhere. And I mean I feel naked without it now even though it's only been about a month now. So my girlfriend and I went down to the hot tub and of course I had my laser in my pocket. You can probably see where this is going... Yep, I had it in my pocket for about 20 minutes completely submerged. When I realized it was still in my pocket I got out and threw it in our pool bag. Knowing it was dead I wasn't too upset or concerned with trying to save it. Once we got back to the apartment my girlfriend suggested that I put it in a bag of rice. She had done it with success to her cell phone after a rafting trip. I told her it was pointless but humored her. Note that this is a cheap ebay pen.

When I woke up the next morning it worked!!! But only for a couple seconds and then died. So she suggested more time in the rice. Again I humored her.

Over the next few days I put it in the rice and it worked with varying reliability. I didn't want to use it in fear of the IR that was surely being emitted even **IF** it was working at all. After about a week it started working 100% again!

So now this is "Old Faithful" the name of my build.

First extracting the diode. While there are countless way to do this I found out that this one was particularly stubborn and so I used a can-opener method. I cut a small slit with wire cutters and then used pliers to peel back the case.

Until I got this

Then I followed the tutorial until I realized, I didn't have a lithium to provide the juice I needed. I had to extend the barrel. After some thought on how to go about it I decided to sacrifice this guy. The top of the rayovac flashlight.

I used the dremel to cut the threads off. I actually did this to the other one as well but didn't end up using it just yet.

I used this as a coupler for the two rayovac barrels.

And now I present to you, Old Faithful!

HA!!!! LOVE this story:)
Great finding ways to do stuff isn't it. Proud of you for figuring out the coupler thing. I would give you another REP if I could.

The reason I doubled up the Walmart lights were so that people could have free batteries, a free extra light that wasn't so bright that you could use to work on stuff, another one so you could remove the black rubber grip to add onto your build, potential other parts, another head that looks kind of nice that could be added on top of a different build etc....
I actually made 3 builds with those heads on top from a 3 flashlight pack I got at the Home Depot that I will post tomorrow so you can see.
Finished building with every 532nm I had left today and I can't spend $ for awhile as I am not allowed to go to work until next wednesday. At least I could help some of you guys out before all of that went down. Glad to do it:)

I have to go up and rest now but you guys have fun;)

Now I gotta come up with something new ;)

Don't have any dremel bits that can do it?
Some small drill bits will be able to go into the collett of the dremel and tighten down. What I've been using lately is dremel bits that look like

to widen the hole once a pilot hole is made. They cut through the aluminum really well (just hold the pill well or it might fling off to neverland on you:) The one to the right is best for it.

When I was making up the packages I just didn't know how much I should mess with stuff such as using the steel brush to clean off the paint from inside the light for conductivity and I didn't want anyone to think they stuff wasn't brand new.

These are the 3 pack lights I saw in Home Depot that were in the tool section plus another cheepo that demanded to become a laser:)

Can't stand how the cats white hairs show up everywhere! The small one is perfectly straight by the way, it's an illusion that the head is bent.
Walmart started carrying those lights in a blue and pink version. In fact, I built one of each that I will post later. The Walmart lights heads thread match:) Just stuck some leftover low powered modules in them.

I actually got you package yesterday, as I was opening it I was only expecting one flashlight (which would have been very nice alone) but then I saw all the other parts... Wow.
I just wanted to say thanks so much.
