Thanks antharak. Still got some touch ups. Walmart had a conductive lubricant. I don't know how well lubricant and epoxy would mix though. Is there a type of jb weld that's conductive? Btw more pics coming tonight on the gitd thread of the finished product..

Thanks Len. No, the software didn't show up today unless it is coming some way other than USPS:(
That's OK, it will eventually get here:)

You are certainly most welcome to say anything you want here Len:)
Everyone here should give him due respect, he has earned it and way before I ever joined not to mention how much he does for others outside of this forum.
If there were such a thing as honored guests in this thread, Len and Lazerbeak would be at the top of my list. Hmmm, wonder if it's an "L" thing.....
Take a look back about the "James" thing that happened as a for instance for Len.

I got the big wood dowels and ahngers I need to finish the black-out cloth project:)

Stopped by Party City and looked around and found a couple of interesting units on closeout. They had 2 left for $8 so I bought both of them. They can actually hold 6.5 lbs of weight and the motors are geared strong. They are activated by movement (as in getting bumped and have a speaker on top that screaches haloween stuff and run off 3 AA batteries. Turn one way for some seconds and then the other way a couple times before shutting off unless they get bumped. Don't know what I'm going to do with them but my mind is working on some stuff.

So, here's besically what it all looks like (close to finished product)

After

Pics not too good but these first ones are within 10 seconds of 405nm lasering

These pics are really unfair representations as it looks much brighter than my camera is showing.
Just going to have to trust me that it's pretty impressive to draw on it.
I think I'm probably going to put a lite clear coat over the paint tomorrow.

Here it is all rolled up and out of the way of my real screen.

Will say that as I was walking around Walmart I noticed very inexpensive white curtains or whatever they are called (just black out cloth) that you could attach to something on either end and just pull down and they have a spring inside to retract. Not big like what I just did but would be really easy to have a nice retractable one.
Of course you could try and find a retractable projection screen at a thrift store and that would be great. Could either be one with legs to setup anywhere or one you can pull down from the ceiling.
I just used what I had on hand other than the big dowels.

Ordered my 50mw o-like module for my B68 build. Which contacts do short on the temporary switch so i can use the clicky on the back of your host?

Also, does anyone know how much current the tailclickies can take on the rayovac Flashlights? Could it handle 2 amps?

BTW Neodymium magnets conduct electricity right? Just checking...

Not a clue how much they could handle.
I would have to check one of mine but if I remember correctly it doesn't matter whether you do the right or left side.
If you are looking at the laser so that the end is north this is what I do. Take your soldering iron and put a dab of solder on both of the east (right side) solder points to get it ready for a very small piece of pre-tinned wire that you just touch to each dab of solder and that's it. If you apply power to the module, it will immediately come on.
If you are confused in any way, I could take a pic for you and throw it up here:)
I didn't show a very good pic at all in the tutorial of what it looks like but it is very simple.
As a side note, all the Chinese manufactureres/businesses are on holiday until at least the morning of the 7th (at least that is what Fasttech says on their site).

Wow, I love all the projects you do for little $$.

It shows that you can have a lot of fun and show your creativity without breaking the bank. I'll have to get a few fasttech modules

I sincerely hope you are feeling better. I'm glad the laser hobby has given you something to take your mind off of other things :)

Barely slept last night. Fever is up to 101.8 Wiped out.
Feels like the kind of sick when you have the Flu.

Oh well.

Raining/thunderstorming right now.
Yes, those magnets conduct.

You don't have to have the solder touch the spring but I always do it for added conductivity.

101.8 is a bit high you should try some ibuprofen, if you can use it.
Make sure you don't have an infection going. With all you just went through it could be what's causing the high fever.
hope you get better.

My Fast Tech order cleared SF so I should be building in less than a week.

Those modules above are Fasttech 5V versions and my experience has been that these are more likley tohot over 100mw than the 3V versions.
They can both use the same batteries so don't be concerned about whether it is their 3V or 5V module. Seems to really confuse people and so they don't buy the 5V ones when I think they are the better of the 2 modules (I probably have a handle on that as I've likely purchased close to a hundred between the 2 versions).
Keep trying to tell people that those modules are the best deal going especially since they have low IR.

Speaking of GITD, sprayed a little in the house and there's nothing quite like spray paint mist for laser beams! Makes a 100mw 405 look like a 100mw 532nm and a 650 way brighter than that.
Course the house now stinks.....
Makes a 100mw 405 or 650 look like a 100mw 532nm

Wait, If you hit GITD mist with a 405 does it glow in mid air? Can you see a "Phantom Beam" after you've turned off the laser?

hmmmm. I'll try it but think the GITD particles drop and it's just the porpellant crud that is in the air.
Unfortunately it's not the affect we were hoping for. Of course, I'm sure it would be really cool if you had white confetti that had been sprayed and then you hit it with the 405nm:)
That sounds like something to try late at night off of a tall building.
