I was just wondering what current everyone is running these "phazor" diodes at? I built a very nice laser with one, and am getting 296mw at 398ma!!  :D

If you graphed your mA vs PO, You should be getting on the knee of the curve. You are getting a little more than I got but that may be typical of your module.

hmmm... I figured I was up there above what would be considered a safe level, I wonder how long it will last at this current, ::) I hope there will be more "phazors". I figure it might not last long at this level, I dont have the cable for my meter, or I woulda done the graph. I like these meredith modules, they are awesome, I like the way they mount.

Hmm. At that current I only got 241mW :(
All the way up to 460mA I only got 255 mW out.
I guess you got a better diode than I did. But if it were me I'd ignore the peak reading. I dunno if your meter acts like mine but I can generate an artificial peak just by moving the beam on the sensor.

I gave up and got an open-can from a NewEgg drive to get back above 300mW.

Zarn - You used an aixiz glass lens. (according to your post in the GB thread) But he's using a meredith one which is far superior. I bet if you used a meredith glass lens you would get similar readings.

Chido is right on the money. I have found about a 20% increase in power for the red diodes using the Meredith glass lens in comparison to an AixiZ acrylic (plastic cut away) or Meredith acrylic. Check drlava's awesome new graph:
Red Diode Graph - All.jpg

This graph shows readings using AixiZ acrylic (plastic cut away)
At the current you are at (398mA's), you would probably have about 250mW's. (acrylic)

Multiply that by 20%, and you have your Meredith glass lens reading! ;)
Jay

P.S. Nice job!
