Pen Style Laser - Need Help

Hello,
I have a basic pen-style laser that Bobhaha built for me because I wanted to get a better knowledge and understanding of lasers.

There is a tiny problem: I have to press the button in a certain way to become powerful.

When I press it in the middle it is extremely dim and then stays like that, whereas when I press it from the side it becomes very powerful and then because my hand isn't very steady it goes dim again.

What can I do in order to get this to stop? I thought about taking the module out and putting the button back in, but I don't have a vice!

Thanks!

EDIT: Not at all is it the builders fault, please don't think that Bobhaha is at fault, because he's not. I think it is the cheap module, but definetely not Adrian!

There could be three reasons why that could have happened.

1) The batteries you are using are dead.
2) The board could be misaligned with the button.
3) The button could be faulty.

I know for a fact that the board is not misaligned when I sent it out to you. Did you ever try to change anything internally?

Out of the three options I think it is most likely option 3. You must remember this was an $8 module (actually $5 + $3 postage) and they are made cheap. I did give you an option to get a more expensive but better quality module but YOU declined. But then again, I have used this module in the past a few times and have never run issues with it. You seem to keep coming up with more and more issues with this module. I think I will avoid this module from now on (for reference its the rayfoss ebay store 5mW module).

Yeah, the batteries are fine, it probably is number 3.

Yes, I did decline a more expensive module, because I just wanted a cheap little laser. I might just take the module out and have a look at it, and then put it back in, it will be a good learning experience for me as well. Also, Adrian, I didn't mean that your at fault at all, I know it must have been something that I've done or the module itself, not you...please don't think I mean that.

Thanks!
