Not sure, loose wire

So I got this cheap laser a few months ago and it was working fine. After awhile I started to mess with it more and more and eventually that came out. Anyone have a general idea where the wire should be going? Im really hope to fix this so I dont have to toss it out. If you need any more information just ask.

Welcome to the forum. What kind of laser module is this? Is it a small green module, a red, or a bluray? I can't quite tell from the photo. The detached wire has black insulation, correct? It almost looks like a ground to case wire ... If you connect batteries to the module spring and this wire, does the laser light up when you press the button?

It is a blu ray one, and yes it is insulated. I havent tried using the wire for ground. Should have known better, I just used the top of the laser for ground. Damn, I used that loose wire for a ground and still nothing. I guess it is broken

Hmm, it kinda looks like the type of wire that would be used as a case contact, but looking at the module makes me think they would have just used the diode case pin for that. I honestly don't know what it is

I would try using the wire and the module as one contact and the spring as the other contact when trying to power it up and see how that works.

Nop nothing, I guess I must have messed something else up. Oh well, I was talking with Igort on getting one from him but I havent heard from recently. Would have been nice to use this one as an extra. Thanks for your guys help.

I'm sure that it was used to 'pinch' between the module and the host as was mentioned...

Since the module case, is the positive contact point. There is no other explanation. That huge wire couldn't have come from the tiny driver.

If you want to test your module, just hold a wire to the module case, with the other end to a CR123 battery positive. Then touch the battery negative to the module spring and press the button switch. (be careful for your eyes, because the laser will come on)

Hmm, if all else fails it may be safe to say its dead :cryyy:
