on tryin to get it fixed it has been discovered its not a laserworld laser and have no idea of the make after months of hunting

can i put in any type of red diode into this

what do i need to look for , check power out puts etc

any help really appreciated

Couldn't find the CS 450RGY, so I looked at the "specs" for the CS 500RGY: Laserworld CS-500RGY Laser
It looks like your red diode is around 270mW.
Sure it can be replaced, and it wouldn't be that difficult to do, but getting a look at the inside of the projector would help tremendously.

Looks like you can get a replacement (~250mW-max) closed-can diode for it for about $10 (Laser Surplus Parts): http://www.laser*surplus*parts.com/shop/13-16x-high-power-red-laser-diode.html (<--remove the * *'s)
Or get a slightly more powerful red replacement (~300mW+) open-can diode for about $19 (HTD): HighTechDealZ - 650nm 20x DVD Burner LPC815 Harvested Laser Diode
The reason it is important to see the faulty laser inside the projector is to determine if it is as simple as replacing the diode, or if there is more than just that needed to fix it. :undecided:

Looks like you may be able to simply replace the diode, but without seeing inside the red laser module (and doing some testing), you won't be able to determine if it's just a blown diode or the driver board is blown.
From the pics it looks like the red laser module may have a small driver in it that supports TTL (switching on and off).
Is it possible to get into that module to see the driver board and/or the diode?
Do you have a DMM to test the current at the leads and diode (once you get it open)?

Digital MultiMeter, you need one when you are doing-it-yourself.
Sorry to say, but most of those pictures are rather useless. :(
Any manufacturers logo, specification sheet, serial number?

Just to help you out a bit on photos. If your using an inexpensive camera you can use a magnefying glass or a jewelers loop to make very nice closup macros. This will help us greatly :p

That does help. Hopefully it's just and LED'd diode, and the driver board is useable... Hopefully. :undecided:
Well. If you can get into that module and extract the diode, you may be able to install a new diode. Try opening up the module (maybe screw it open).
