how can I open this laser without damaging it?
it's the cute handheld model from o-like.

there seems to be dust inside, so behind the lens (wtf?).
only after 1 day of use ....

humidity is always around 60% here where I live, may this be the problem?
exactly the same happened with other lasers... after a very short time of use they got the same "blurry circle" around the actual dot. There is something on the lens...
When I look on it with a flashlight I can clearly see some small particles on the lens glass.

I'm not sure but I think the part above the focus ring will twist right off with a little force put a rag around it and use some pliers that should do.

hmm I don't want to scratch the host :( is there any trick not to scratch it? Because even with a rag it gets scratches from the "teeth" from the pliers :/
I already got a minimal scratch, I did it very slowly and I felt it startet scratching so I stopped.

Try applying electrical tape around where the teeth of the pliers will go!
Or if possible, you can try it with your hands. My green laser was tough to open to open at first but after that, I could easily open it with my hands.

wow, those little housings are quite tricky... can only hold it with 3 fingers.
I just can't twist it off... If I use more force with the pliers, the metal of the housing is going to get squeezed...
frustrating.

I just can't understand how this dirt can come inside and that within 1 day.....

I guess I'll just have to give up and throw that piece of crap in the corner just as the laser before.

:yabbmad:

whad could this be? is it really dust?

I had a bit of a wider laser, then. I could get my thumb and index finger on it in a clenched position so I could apply more force. If you have a vice grip, you could try that.

i tried it once again and finally managed to do it. phew, was a nice piece of work hehehe....

OK! finally, yes it was dust or something on the inner side, the lens was just dirty...
it's not clean 100% but I am expecting to have to do this every week... so I'd better be super careful with it and just be happy with the results I can get.

thanks A LOT for your help guys!

oh and: the post with the pictures from piferal was just completely awesome! That little tutorial should get stickied somehow :)
