Need help for making my own laser! thanks

Hey. I saw some vids on youtube on how to build a burning laser.

Also i have questions about the diode.. Can i get it from a DVD burner? will it still burn matches?

And what about that chip thing.?? That needed a philips screw driver.. Were the hell can i get that? what about the lens? and that weird casing thing?

NOTE: I AM A ABSOLUTE 0 at such stuff. just wanna impress my friends during this halloween by lighting up fireworks with a laser..
