Default [Need help] 445 problems

So I have an Aurora c6 with a 445nm diode. It has a microflex drive set at ~1.2A

I seem to be having a problem that has recently popped up. While it is on, it will start to dim down in power. I found that if i unscrew the end a bit and wiggle it around it will come back to full power but then after a few seconds it will weaken again.

Also while it is weak, it flashes a bit and I can also hear a humming noise coming from the driver.

I am using freshly charged batteries at 4.1v, protected and non protected.

If anyone has any thoughts about this it will greatly be appreciated

Lasers dimming with switching drivers such as your FlexDrive is not common.

Most common problems are lasers strobing and completely shutting off when battery is empty, but not dimming.

Have you built the laser or bought it?
If built, recheck your host to module connection (through heatsink).

Take some pictures of the inner workings too.

High pitched whine coming from drivers are usually a sign of some type of failure, people have reported hearing that from drivers which had coils chipped or in some way damaged.

In any case, you might want to prepare for buying a new driver or even diode.

Thanks for the info =)
It was a Jayrob kit so all I had to do was solder the diode on. I wonder what I've done to it now haha. Looks like i may have to get a new driver and diode

Also just a small note, 2 of my unprotected batteries don't work when I have the tailcap screwed all the way. I have to unscrew it a bit to get it working

Hmm.

Take the tailcap off and look where the spring is. Around it, you should see an aluminium ring with two holes in it. Grab a wide tweezers, or even a ballpoint pen, and rotate the ring clockwise to tighten it.

Tell me if it fixes anything.

Also try taking the tailcap off and completing the circuit with a piece of metal like a screwdriver putting good pressure on the battery. that can let you know if it is a problem with the tailcap or a pressure issue.

Yeah sounds like it is just a switch issue possibly... (hopefully)

i can remember when i i first did my first build(s), i had a humming noise from the laser.
it turned out that the protection PCB in the battery was playing silly buggers.

i suggest running 2x unprotected batteries.

Awesome! This seems to have fixed the problem. I was able to turn the ring about another 90 degrees and now I am able to turn on the laser without having to unscrew the end cap a bit. Hope this solves my dimming problem too

@Jayrob It looks like it was haha. Thank you once again for this kit!
