Hello, first of all I'd like to apologise because I am new to this forum, but I need some help with my new 5MW Green Laser. I bought it about 3 weeks ago and it finally arrived yesterday, I was extremely excited because my friend had his 2 arrive a week ago and they worked fantastically, but for some reason it started acting up.. It stopped working, and I tried swapping batteries, a million times. But noticed the IR 808nm was coming out instead, but oddly enough SOMETIMES the laser would work at full power, others, only IR. If I press the button really hard sometimes it gets an alright power going but not 5MW.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue, or what it could be? Thankyou.

Oh and just to clear a few things up, some batteries get a better response, so with a set of batteries it might produce a little green and some IR, others only IR. Same type of battery, just newer variations, but oddly NEW batteries worked fine until the Green died off complete and produced ONLY IR. The batteries I currently have in it are producing IR and green, but if I press the button extremely hard, its just Green.. I cant figure out whats wrong.

Hi C3zA, what model laser is it? Where did you get it from? It sounds as if the switch or driver board is loose or has shifted. Are the batteries the same exact length? You might not be getting good contact with the battery. What size battery is used? Are you able to return the laser for a replacement one?

Hey Laser Chick, Thankyou for replying. It shipped from Hong-Kony and took 3 weeks to arrive so I am pretty bummed, another one could be ordered but 3 weeks wait..? Is a long time.. The money isn't the issue, mainly its the time.

It was just a generic 5mw Pen I bought off Ebay, we bought 3 all together, 2 for my friends and 1 for me. They are completely fine, mine however is just.. Well I have a video of whats happening if that's of any use? 2 AAA batteries are used, all the same size.. Its weird because new batteries work great, then only IR, then great again. What would you suggest I do? Is this User Serviceable?

I've own the same kind of laser you are talking about. Depending on how I shook it, it would emit brighter or dimmer green. Basically, those are low-quality lasers that you can't rely on.

Don't keep trying to buy batteries for it :)

Is there a way to fix it? I mean if something is loose, surely it can be shifted back into place, the laser is pretty decent when it works, I mean it shocks me and for the price is really good. I just am really bummed after a 3 week hype, and I don't know where to get others for the same price and quick shipping.

Not sure if you can fix it, the parts in them are total crap to be honest, no worth your valuable time.

Check out these guys, they sell amazing lasers for the price! :)

See thats still pretty pricy, like my laser was $5 Australian including shipping, and they are decent.. I really want something like a 10mw or so for cheap and fast.. Not possible, but I still wanna see if someone can help me fix this one..

If anyone can please give me advice, I know 5mw seems pathetic but its so cool 😂

If money is an issue and you cant afford the good sites that were recomended Try this place TMart.com thay have $5 green pointers that ship within 3 days on average But maake sure you order from their US sights! It will show you US Direct, other wise all others ship from china. Remember these are the same ebay quality pens. But for the money you can probablt get 2. They also come overspec at times When I mean ship I mean arrive.

Thanks they look great, is that 3 days shipping to Australia aswell? The quality isn't a factor :) I just want speed! Haha!

If anyone can shed some light on ways I might be able to DIY fix it. Images of how the module should look, things id need etc. Or just your thoughts on what it could be, that'd be great. Tomorrow after work im most likrly going to open it up and have a look at the module, see if anything sticks out to me as "misplaced" or "shifted". Also any links to cheap international shipping lasers would be amazing, price isn't a major concern but I'm trying to stay under $20 AUD :) if anyone knows any Australian sites maybe? Anywho, wish me luck and please give me advice, I also have a 50 second video I could upload privately to youtube that shows exactly whats happening and great for trouble shooting I guess! Thanks

I didnt realize that you were from Australia, I missed that part, TMart has a live chat on thier site, I guess try that. As far as taking the laser apart, if you think the board moved and the button is missalined open it up and gently pull out the foam ring that goes around the spring were the neg part of the battery makes contact. With the button straight down in the host, the driver board should be excatly horizentaly to the the button, the switch on the board is what hits the metal button in the host, if it doesnt look horizontal DONT try to twist it, you will break the contacts that the board has to the diode, also peek in and the board may also be moved back a bit and not making contact to the switch that way. If any of these are true open it up from the tip of the lazer, when the cap comes of, the module slides out through the front. Get a clothe and some pliers and gently wiggle the cap back an forth til it comes loose. Its not hard to put back together, its self explanitory. The only thing that will probably be a big issue is if the module is the type that is pressed an glued in. Im a begginner also but ive done it many times. Its a good fealing to fix it yourself You might put a few scratches on it but oh well I guess:thinking: I cant stand waiting ditto I have ordered other things but when it comes to lasers its a whole other ballgame!!!

Thanks for the advice! Ill let you know how I go, just got back from work!

Sounds like you're having contact issues if the laser is working sometimes and not other times. One thing you can try which sometimes works is to put a small piece of tinfoil in your battery tube. Sometimes the batteries don't make proper contact making your laser intermittent. If this doesn't work then you likely have a faulty switch or loose connection. In which case it's not worth thr trouble of fixing. If that isn't the issue then the crystal might have come loose.
