So when i was soldering the positive wire to the diode i necked this thing and completely unsoldered it from the board i think its a resistor im just trying to confirm that.

I hope you are using the small silicone insulated wire sold around here.

You un-soldered the smallest component on the board correct ?
the one in the corner of the board right next to the + diode connection's pad.

That is a capacitor and if you apply power with out there something could die
including the laser diode, or nothing could happen, best not to gamble.

good advice pyro

jake you need that cap because it buffers out current spikes that could damage you diode

pyros a trustworthy member and he'll fix you up:beer:

I'm good enough in soldering that i can do it i was just wondering the which way it goes.
