Lowering the output of a 300mW green diode

Salut, I recently acquired a 300mW laser and it's very neat but I fear and respect the eye scorching tendencies of this light and was hoping for a simple way to control the output on the fly.

As I understand it I can pot mod my laser to lower the output but I was hoping for a method that doesn't require me to open the laser each time I want to lower the output. Are there any simple ways to achieve a weaker output? A lens perhaps, or a weaker battery, or some other device I can easily attach to the laser without the need to solder? I'm pretty bad at soldering but if it's just a one time deal I might be able to do something like that.

Thanks for reading!

Welcome to LPF :)

Unfortunately, no there is no way to control output like that. Depending on what laser you got, you will most likely just end up killing it.

I suggest buying a different laser, lower power laser instead. Personally I pay a premium to have modes added to mine, whenever I can.

What laser did you buy? Where?

Ah that's a disappointment.

I'm not really sure about much more than just the basic specs:

Wavelength: 532nm
Safety grade: Class III B
Focusable
Safety lock with 2 keys
Lens cover
Size: 220mm * 40mm
Power Supply: 3.7V 2400mAh Industrial Package Li-ion Battery with multi-function charger. LC 18650 Battery (included).
Switch: momentary push button with a blue LED indicator

I bought it from a friend who bought it online some time ago.
