Looking to Identify

Howdy all....I'm looking to identify a Diode that I got from a package deal on E-Bay.....It has the main wires coming off the diode and then some coming out of the heatsink/housing. If anyone may know where this came from and what it is I would appriciate!

Look like an ir diode but it seem kind of large...

yup, it's a Biggin'....all wired up too....got myself all set-up for 5.6mm diodes and then this :yh: but at least it's wired for something!

Could be a 9mm ir diode, have you tried powering it up with a low current to see if it will lase?

Not as of Yet...my experience is still limited and I would like to gain information before I 'set sail'.
