Default is an LG Blu-Ray DVD Burner a Good Diode to use

So i want to start playing around and make my own laser but I am real new to this stuff. So I have an LG Blu-Ray burner (if you need to know more info i can open the PC case for more info) that I can take apart and was wondering if it was a good laser diode to use.

Also I know that I need a driver and housing and all that good junk but if i was to buy a jayrob pocket mini kit what else would i need. And for anything else links would be great and also if there were DIY versions I am very good at soldering and making PCBs

Well that's all and I just found this forum and you better believe that I will be back on here a lot.

check what model is the burner so we will know what current to tell you for safe and long life.if the pocketmini kit comes with the 'hot option'(flexdrive) you will only need aixiz module and charger for the battery.
BTW wlcome to the forum.
if you want more help ask.
