Your voltage needed depends on the current you intend to drive the diode. As you increase the current to the laser diode, the Vf (forward voltage) of the diode also increases. If you could "make-due" with 100mA on a 803T diode, then you could probably get away with two 3.7V lithium 10440s, but it really varies with the diode.

BTW, my driver will continue to put out current even under the minimum voltage, the current will just start to drop... just be aware when selecting voltage since you can be mislead to think that you have enough voltage, when in fact you do not and the driver isn't putting out as much current as it should be ;)

If i ran the diode at 100mA..how many mW would it put out? And if this wont work or if i have to charge the batteries every 10 minutes to keep it working tell me now because i dont want to spend the money if it wont work for a while...lol

Thanks

In the last batch of 40 803 diodes, the average @ 100ma can yeild you anywhere from 60 - 100mW. If you bought the diode already mounted in an AXIZ module, it could have been the sellers least efficient diodes, and may only be putting out 60-70mW.

I sold a driver to a guy on ebay who bought a diode from another ebay member (I had none for sale). He asked if I could hook up the diode to the driver for him and sent me both pieces. At 120ma which the driver was set at, the finished laser only gave 78mW.

If you harvest your diodes from a sled by yourself, you may be lucky and get 1mW per ma. In that case maybe 100mW;)

What current do you think I should run my diode at? And where should I buy my diode? I really don't want to harvest it...how many mW of blu-ray do I need to burn stuff? Matches balloons ect.

I just recieved my order of ten of these, they are leadlights, and have the power on LED. Some people like the LED, others do not.

As for the ma, where did you get the diode? As I said before, there are many people selling the diodes that dont meet the sellers requirements for their own builds, others just sell them nd dont test them. Ask the seller, but I dont think you will get the truth if they screen them.

I have also blown 2 diodes at 110ma, so like everyone else, the more power desired, comes with greater risk. This is why its good to buy 4 or 5, just to make sure.

Thanks

Which have you not purchased yet? the diode or the host?

I have not purchased anything for this build... Host is from z-bolt ... Driver is from stonetek...diode is from _____ LOL

Thanks

Jake21 does good GB's, and I do believe he has extra on the ones coming in shortly. He sends the sleds in raw form, and for the price is your best bet.

I think he has them up for 12.$ ea or so. It doesnt really matter who you get them from as long as the sled is intact and the diode looks to be in its original state (no funny business)

If you want to go with a pointer case, you need a small driver id go with the lavadrive, unless you dont mind the need for 3.6v cells. A boost circuit is best for pointers IMO, you will enjoy the ease of two regular AAA's over the need to order more parts from overseas ;)

Ok...lava drive it is...I don't want to(and don't know how) to harvest a diode...I know there are guides but can I buy it in diode form and not get a bad diode?

Thanks
