I brought this laser some time ago. Cost was around £50-80 from memory. Pics below...

Spec:
Wavelength: 532nm
Max Output: <40mw
CLASS B Laser Product

It seemed to have just stopped working. Put a New CR2 (Panasonic) in and did nothing. But when putting an old CR2 that came with it originally I get the tiniest little glow from way inside the head, when looking v.closely.

Weird thing is I tested this original battery on my battery tester and it reads nothing but the new CR2 is FULL.

I cant seem to get inside the head of the laser but managed to adjust the screw clockwise, but did nothing.
I then tried adjusting the screw anti-clockwise and now it is not producing its previous faint glow. I think the screw just rotates freely now, 360 degrees.

Could this be buggered?

Can anyone advise me on best thing to do or willing to take a closer look at it if I was to send it to you covering all delivery costs.

Would be a shame to just bin this, is/ has been a superb tool for work.

TIA.

Sorry, I can't tell you, what happened with your pen.
BUT I can warn you not to look into the aperture. Even if there is no green, there could be plenty of IR - so you risk your eyes by looking into the aperture!

Thanks for the concern. I didn't think it would be too hazardous as there wasn't much being emitted. However the advise has been very much taken on board & appreciated. :friend:

Just because it doesn't "appear" to you that "much is being put out", it may not be the case. IR (infrared) laser light is just barely visible, but can do a great amount of damage to your eyes.
Please don't look into a laser again, even if you are trying to diagnose a problem. I would be surprised if you didn't do some sort of damage to your vision.
To get to your broken laser issue: It sounds like your crystals have come out of alignment and/or the laser module is permanently damaged. Really, it would be cheaper to purchase a new laser (or replacement module) than to attempt to repair the one you have.
Here is a seller in the UK that may have a module or laser for you.
Module:

This looks like the exact laser you have, and it's only £23:
