Default laser lighter kipkay

i think all of you know th evideo from kipkay in which he puts a laser in a lighter if not: YouTube - Cheapy Lighter Laser Burner!
well the shop laserdiy.com doesnt ship to germany so i have to get the things i need on another way.
id like to buy this diode 250mW 405nm Blue-Violet blu-ray Laser Diode in Module bei eBay.de: Lighting Lasers (endet 09.11.09 07:06:55 MEZ)

but i need a driver which fits the lighter and like in the video uses 2 of those little batteries can u help me which one i should take? and can you help me to build the circuit? this would be great
and im from germany so my english is not perfect. im looking forward to your answers and they would be even better in german so its easier for me to understand but if not its also no problem

Wouldn't there be heat issues, as there isn't really any heatsink?

You can not run the PHR with a rckstr driver at that voltage. Rckstr drivers are a linear driver, meaning you need more input voltage then the voltage needed to run the laser. For example, PHR has VF of around 5.5v (for example) then the VF of driver 1V so atm you need at least 6.5v from two tiny 1.5v batteries.. Not going to happen. Then you have to think about battery loads, so you are needing at least 8-9v to get a minimal amount of run time from this.

The only real alternative is the Flexdrive, or if you have enough room (assuming so since you were going to use a rckstr driver), you can use rayfoss 405nm driver for only $6.. but you will need a cap to filter any ripples from the driver.

Have fun, be safe and most of all BUY SOME GLASSES! (not sun glasses!) -Adrian

Get the driver preset at the appropriate current, that way you don't have to worry about anything!

LOL is this for a PHR-803T diode? or a 6x diode? The ebay shows that max current is 200ma... but it depends on the diode its self. If it is infact a PHR no you can not run it at 190ma. If it is a 6x diode, that will be a sufficient current.

In regards to the switch, It goes between the batteries and the driver... NOT between the laser and the driver!

BTW all this info can be found all over the forum, please take the time to read all the information in the stickeys and all the info in the DIY section, this will answer all your questions. If not then please feel free to ask!
