Hey guys I bought a 30$ laser on ebay from china. It says it is a 150mw burning laser. But why doesn't it burn? I can't even find out how to take it apart I have tried everything. Lasers from china are almost never what they claim to be. and a genuine $30 green laser is unheard of. If it is even close you will have to focus the beam to get it to burn though I find this highly unlikely. As a general rule you won't get what you pay for in a china laser over 5mW. I would expect your laser to be more like 5mW MAX of 10. this is not even close to burning. a real 150mW will cost you over $100

Most definitely you got ripped off. I'm sorry. I can tell you for sure if you are not able to burn at all your laser is a least under 50mW. I find it most likely that it has a power of 5 to 10 as I said before.

I have at least six of them ( signature with LPM output) some are lower not on the signature but at least 50mw to 80 mW hence why i said i assumed they were the same ones i have, you may have got the DUd one always is one, the red laser of that type outputs a solid 250 to 280 mW and burn very well ...you do with the ones around 50 to 80 mW really have to get the focus right about 2 to 2 and a half inchs in front of the laser, with the cap screwed all the way out but don't force it. It should burn then if not you have the dud one as laser Sam said but i have found them to at least light matches even the lower powered ones

I wouldn't suggest a pot mod. Most of these cheap Chines lasers are already turned up as high as possible. You may get lucky with a few extra mw, but then again you may burn out your diode (immediately or just quicken its death). It's up to you. Just realize that if it stops putting out green light it might still be spewing invisible ir.
If you're just looking to burn, I'd highly suggest getting a 200mw SFCR red through TheJoker301. I think he's selling them for around $45. It will be on spec, great quality, and his service is excellent. Here's a link to his site: Sci-Fi-Lasers

I am a bit amazed about the specs listed in the bottom of the linked page 
(4) Output power: 1mW (High Power)
If it is truly a 1mW laser you will not be able to burn anything!
Also it is obvious that the pictures of the laser lighting a match is a different laser. The focus ring is not the same neither is the sticker.

This will be the fifth time I recommend joker in the last two days lol. But you guys should really check out sci fi lasers. For a little more than what you paid you can get a true 300 mw red or 100 mw green with lpm readings. Almost always over spec from what I've seen. Good luck and welcome guys.

Sci-Fi-Lasers Have at it. Many member would also recommend this site. The owner is a member thejoker301 if you have any questions about his products pm him. My sfcr was 40 mw over spec. He is awesome to deal with and runs out of stock very fast. So when you see he has things in stock move quick.
