Laser Flickering?

I just got done building a new laser, and it keeps flickering. I don't have any new batteries but the ones i am using just barely give the flexdrive 3 volts. Should it start flickering at this voltage?

3v is like 2xaaa's. So it shouldn't be flickering. But some people have posted about experiencing this with their flexidrive when the batteries got low, so maybe it is time to get new batteries.

Hehe, i found that the driver was only connected by one strand of the wire, so it was a pretty bad connection. I am going to go fix it.

If it happens after you resolder the power lead, and try fully charged battery, then it could be a sign that the LD's damaged, because I've seen that 3 times with my blu rays, and usually they die really quick!

First, when i turned it on, it didn't flicker, and was strong, then when i tampered with the connections and it started flickering :-/
Now i will go and fix the connections :)

The instruction manual clearly states that because of the pulsing nature of this driver (Many Khz) you should not us wires more than 3 inch's long. It could be inductance that it messing with the driver. ;)

IT LIVES!!! I was resoldering the connections, and then the + and - on the diode got connected :eek:
So, i had to dig my knife into the solder to seperate them ::)
It is set at 150mA, but it does not seem to be outputting what it should be. Maybe it is because of the batteries? Do almost dead batteries give lower powers?

EDIT:
Changed the batteries to new ones, and WOW!!! It is brighter than any of my blu-rays!!! YEA!!!!!!!
