Okay so I have some questions as to how to complete this build.

1. How do I easily establish a contact point? It is so far in the host that I think it will be hard to do anything soldering-wise.

2. How do I get the metal snapring thing into the second groove in the tailcap? I have it in the first one but I cant get it past there....can I epoxy the damn assembly in there? Or would that be an idiot move?

3. How long does it take to strip the anodizing off? It is clear so its not like I can see a difference... And what type of wire brush for dremel do I need?

I think that is it for now....

Also, what would yall suggest for my first Kryton build? Red, blue, purple? I have a 5.6mm diode pocket one.

Thanks,
Isaac

Forget the video. Here is what I've found to be the best method to build with the Kryton:

Contact point: Use a 17mm contact board or round driver. Solder bits of pre-tinned wire on the battery side ground, and bend them over the edge. You will need to do this several times. Start in a cross formation and add more as needed, but try to keep the overall diameter roughly even, as you do not want your Vin pad to come near the body.

EDIT:

Switch ring: A pair of snap-ring pliers is just the thing to get the ring into the furthest ring groove. They're cheap @ most places.

Stipping: If using liquid gel drain cleaner, do NOT leave in for more than 15 minutes. It WILL cause major corrosive wear if you leave it in for too long. Do all of the parts unassembled together. Use a wooded stick to give a light stir every few minutes. Use protective gloves at all times. Your Kryton will get hot.

My 405nm Kryton is a freakin' monster @ 675mA at just under 500mA! Just food for thought.

EDIT: Why not all three??

Glass if you want a prettier dot, G2 if all you want is power.

I solder the driver to the diode pins, then solder a a spring to driver and have it extend just past the battery stop on the inside. Battery will bottom out on the host and only apply a little pressure to the spring. Still adequate contact though.

The snap ring you need needle nose pliers with tiny ends. Or a snap ring tool. If you have a cheap set of pliers just grind the tips down and use that.

No idea about the anodizing.

I can't recall seeing many 405s. I just put an M140 with a Mohhgasm 1.8A linear in one tonight. 1.6W with a 3 element :)

Edit: Don't bottom out the lens in the focusing adapter or you wont get any sort of focus. I used a dab of epoxy on the lens nut threads and screwed it into the focusing adapter a couple turns. Let it harden so It wouldn't move then just screw it into the front.

I guess since it is anodized you dont have to worry about host contact with the spring huh? That is kind of lucky i guess. I think I will probably do a M140 or something. I want a fairly powerful build.

That and if you do it right there wont be enough room for the battery to push it to the side to make contact. I have maybe 8mm of spring past that battery stop and Its perfectly centered.

Lol damn I forgot I need to add one of those!!! Maybe I can make the ground screw my contact point....I just need to pack the pill with dirt to keep it grounded.

what lens did you use? And does the focus adapter work with shorter lenses? If so, how? the threading is soooo deep.
