Hey, new guy here.
I was gifted the task of creating a laser show using iShow 1.something (I also have iShow 2.3 but it seems to be an even worse program) and a Shinp AL-460RGY. From the little work I've been able to do so far I can tell that A. iShow is a fickle beast, and B. I may have bitten off more than I can chew.

That being said I've gotten the program up and running and the laser responds to the quick show images. However all that shows up is a red line over a green line. Depending on the image the lines pulse more or less.

So my question is: how do I fix this? I would love to be able to project images and text to sound, but is it possible or am I just wasting my time?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Evmo, and welcome to the forum.

I've been waiting and hoping someone more educated with this software would comment on this post and help you out as this is also new for me.

I've just got myself an ishow DAC so at the moment I probably won't be much help as I'm also still trying to learn this shoddy software, but I hope I can be of some help or for someone else to comment and put us right.

The pulsing/flickering of the lines you're seeing, I would guess is due to this cheap DAC (digital to analog converter) and software.
As for fix, I don't really think there is much of a fix as I believe this is due to the cheap Ishow, I've heard this DAC works better with some other software. Also I have seen when in Quick play mode you can turn your scan rate up BUT I think if you turn it up too high it may damage your projectors galvos! My galvos rated scan speed is 20kpps so I tend not to venture to far from that area as don't want to harm them.

As for projecting images, do you mean patterns and shapes? As this cheap Ishow will only be any good for simple patterns and beam effects really from what I have seen and read.
As for the text, I've not got the text play mode working that well yet.
And with sound, well that's what I've been mostly playing around with, from what I can see at the moment is this software is very limited! I've got music so far playing through the software but I can't seem to edit the speed of the laser or anything really when I hit play, I'm not to sure if segment edit mode will help me control this bit...

I have done a lot of research and reading about this ishow before buying and mostly read bad about this product that is referred to as "ishit"

Conclusion so far:

You will only be able to do simple patterns and beam effects with this. As for getting to understand this software and getting it to work with music, you may be wasting your time and your sanity!!!

As soon as I can afford it, I'm going to buy back my peace of mind and sanity... And invest in a good laser DAC & software like Quickshow or LSX!

Thanks. I figured the software being shitty was most of the problem. Hopefully I can get this sorted out.
