installing LASORB into the circuit

Hi all,

Just trying to figure out how to install the LASORB. Should I just wire it in parallel with my laser diode?

More importantly, does the inclusion of LASORB change anything in the circuit? Would I have to dial up the mA on my PSU?

Thanks.

Yep, parallel with the diode. It should have no bearing on the behavior of the circuit itself except to trim off any spikes or transients.

Those LASORB vids were cool. May those diodes who were unprotected rest in peace:cryyy:

Only one answer to that: Pangolin.. It works, believe me. Pangolin is the most respected name in laser show hardware/software with unmatched expertise.. I implicitly trust any product from them. If you've ever been to Disney World or a concert and seen a laser show, it's being run by Pangolin products. They're not really well known for designing and promoting junk..

So the LASORB Anode leg needs to be soldered to the Positve(+) diode pin and the Lasorb Cathode to the Negative(-) diode pin. Right guys?

Cheers.

Hey, I'm really sorry for bringing this thread back up but I still don't get how to install a lasorb. What's the lasorb anode and cathode? Can someone show me an easy diagram or explain 100% ?

Its just that I THINK you are supposed to connect it by soldering one of the lasorb pins to a laser diode pin and the other lasorb pin to the other laser pin, but how do I connect this to the laser driver then? Do you just attach wires to the soldered lasorb/laser pins?

hey, there is polarity! BEWARE!
Cathode is the POSITIVE PIN and the ANODE is the NEGATIVE (GND) PIN! DON'T solder it reverse, it will not work and the laser surely won't power and will not be protected!
oh, don't solder it too away from the LD, at most 1cm away

Here is a cool little board. Its a diode socket + lasorb connector. SELLING LASERBUG - Laser Diode Interface Modules
