SOoo i have a broken 100mW 532nm CNI laser pointer. It does not work at all :( I would love it if some one could help me fix it! :)

Here is what it looks like disassembled:

The one of the diode pins broke off and I soldered it back on and nothing has changed. I do not know if i soldered it back on the right place lol so here are some pictures of where the pins currently are:

If you can see anything from the pictures that dont seem right please let me know.

The other problem is that the diode head that holds the KTP crystal is no longer mounted correctly. From what you can see in the pictures below can this be fixed?

I have no idea how or if i can even fix this. I was not the one who broke this nor will i explain how this came me be and i honestly dont care about how it was broken... but if ANYONE knows how or if i can even fix this, please let me know. :)

Thanks everyone!

Take care

Dude, I just had to send one back to CNI, and they fix them best when no disassembley has been done... Oh well! -GH

do you think they would still fix it? mine is almost 2 years old
how much would it cost me besides shipping?

Do you know if it produces any IR light? (check with a webcam or cell phone cam to see if any invisible light is coming out)

The pump diode has most likely kicked the bucket if there was no IR emitted before the pin came off.

If you have soldered it back on, it could have been a bad solder job overlapping onto other components and shorting them out. The laser diode is also extremely heat sensitive, and may have been damaged.

I could try my hand at cavity realignment for you, but I've had no experience (only the knowledge, which doesn't count for much without experience). You'd probably need a new short-pedestal decanned pump diode, and those aren't easy to come by.

Your only option now would be to send it back to CNI (and have them replace the module) or to buy a new one.

If you do buy a new one, you're likely to get import issues, and CNI doesn't ship >5mW pens to the United States.

I'd give up on this.. it may be mis-wired by now, the pump diode is likely dead, and the crystal set is dislodged. Even if you could fix the driver and get a new pump diode, you'd still have to get the crystal set back on properly.

Unfortunately that isn't as easy as just putting it back where it came from and applying some glue. The position and rotation have to be perfect to get any results. Its not difficult to get -some- green light by roughly positioning it, but to get back to full power is nearly undoable.

if you can't ligh it,i am sure laser diode is dead. You will need to confirm whether the crystal is OK or not?
If you can focus it,and need to replace new diode ,maybe it will get OK.But be careful PCB.
