Question hrrrm, am I a noob or am I correct?

saw this flashlight at the store the other day, looked like some of the ones people use for their laser hosts, so I picked it up. Just wondering if it's as simple as I think it is.

took it apart to see what the bones of it looked like, seems similar to others I've seen used.

this is what the main inside looks like from the top.

from the bottom, the positive connection for the batteries.

then I unsoldered the wires, and took the LED off, with what I assume to be the driver for the LED.

This is where my question is, do those two wires go directly to the power source? or do you think there is some sort of driver they are connected to on the inside of that housing.

They will go to some sort of driver. The stock driver could drive a red diode or possibly just scrape in a 445.

ok, so if I drill out the top, would I be able to remove the driver and wire it so I am connected directly to the batteries?
