I'm not following. If the removal of diode's heatsink twists the wires hard enough so it snaps, how the hell was it installed in there in the first place?

There has to be another way to remove it without risking the diode.

Perhaps the glued part first while diode's still in there so you can calmly desolder and remove diode without risk? I mean, there has to be some order in which it was assembled originally.

Maybe the driver is allowed to twist while they screw down the diode heatsink into the host?

I know that when re-installing a diode heatsink you full twist the wires the opposite way so when you screw the diode heatsink into the host the wires un-winds :D

I also find it odd that taking it apart would permanently harm the internal components... how did they get them assembled then? Perhaps there's a way of working from the back end of the laser or something?
