How to secure diode pins?

i was wondering, since i dont have heat shrink tubing

how do i prevent the pins of the laser diode from snapping off the diode

can i use hot glue gun?

or will the glue like over heat the diode

Easiest way would be to assemble your laser then quit messing with it. :D

Though heatshrink isn't really structural. Not sure how it'd keep you from snapping pins anyway. It's just there to keep things from shorting out.

but do you think hot glue gun will secure it, just in case, cause in the past i've used soldered it with solid wire and whenever i moved the solid core wire, the diode pin moved too and i didnt really realize untill the pins of the diode kept moving back and forth and eventually snapped off -_-

so now i know to use stranded copper core wire so its softer and wont break the pin

but just incase once again, do you think hot glue gun will be safe to use?

Use very thin, silicone wiring and stop messing with it ;)

alright fine -__- (thanks actually tho)

the wire that came with the axiz module should be good right (desolder the wire from the 5 mw diode)

I wouldn't use hot glue.. For one thing, it'll just melt and become a mess when you use your laser.

I have no idea what wire came with the Aixiz module. The smaller and more flexible the better.

but yeah i used a wire from a telephone cable, super solid and yeah ...

From my building experiences , using silicone wiring from FlaminPyro seems to have worked the best. Reasonably priced and great performance. you cant lose.

Yup, this too :D Once I put it together, rarely does it come apart. :beer:

100% agreement, Jeff's silicone wire is the best ...IMHO :beer:

I'll add my name to the list of people who love this wire. So flexible it's untrue. It takes to pre-tinning really well and it's almost impossible to burn the insulation with your soldering iron, (if you are clumsy enough to touch it).

It really is fabulous stuff! I used it in my, "8x Scratch Built BR", laser posted recently. If you want to see the wire, have a look, but wait till you get a sample from Daguin. You'll order the same day!

this is the wire that came with the sure model i plan on desoldering it

but hey guys thanks for the responses

and daguin i dun want you to go through all the trouble just to send me a wire so dun worry about it but thanks tho

If Daguin is happy to send you a small sample of this wire then, let it be! If not then I am happy to do so too. It seriously is THAT good! Even for future reference, it's worth seeing. For the minimal costs incurred, (which you could refund?), why not? Seroius members trying to help serious members...

I just put a gob of hot glue on the back of the diode. Works fine for me, and if the diode were hot enough to melt that glue I think I'd have other problems.
