and how strong\good\worthy\mw the diode is?
i cant find any details on the hardware.. :\
thanks!

also, i got a 150mw True green laser ive bought years ago from dx..
can i use the diode or something of it? (it fell from like 1meter and stopped working ~_~ )

Nobody here can give you an answer to that, but we can give you pointers. No pun.

Once you take it apart, you need to visually inspect the diode and determine it's type. There are only about 3 you're likely to encounter in DVD burners, SCC, LCC, LOC.

Small Closed Can won't do much good above some maybe 150mW.
Long closed can and Open long can are your best bet and will do well over 200, 250mW even.

Your green probably had it's crystal element knocked out. You can't do much with it. Maybe buy a whole new replacement module, but re-alligning a crystal is no picnic. It requires hours of effort, and guaranteed disappointment at end result.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but that particular optical drive is just a CD-RW drive, not a DVD-RW drive. CD-RW drives have only infrared lasers in them; you need a DVD-RW drive to find red laser diodes. So overall any laser diodes in that drive you have are going to be pretty disappointing, not to mention possibly dangerous for your eyes. I wouldn't bother with that drive at all unless you want the motors or other mechanical hardware.

ive said its a cd burner, ive given up on that one
but i got another question
about my 150mw true green laser
it fell from 1meter high and stopped working, when i shake it i hear something moving inside..
how do i take out the module or the diode or what ever its inside to try and fix it and put the moving thing back inplace?
