My new 3 day old 200mW 532nm started acting funny last night
It would change size and flicker in brightens.
Now to day it's gotten worse it will do this within seconds. from a cold state.
It looks like crap. it becomes a droopy dot with a whole mess of scatter.
Shining on a wall 8ft away it blends in to one big 12-inch scattered mess
It has become completely unusable.

I never even used the laser longer than 15 to 30 seconds at a time.
Is this mod hopping? What can I do.
This is my second laser from rayoss. The first one died within 24 hours.
Now this one. I was very carful to follow the instructions from rayfoss. About not using it for longer than 60 seconds at a time.
WTF This sucks

I don't know if I should even tell rayfoss. I'm so disappointed.

this is called "mode hopping"

And its best to go with o-like .com

Their green modules are VERY dependable ^_^ i own 3 and NONE of them have EVER mode hopped.

it sucks that it was a 200mW laser... and not a 50mW one. You can get 50mW ones for like 30 bucks. i would DEFINATELY contact rayfoss, as it should only modehop after about 30seconds to be considered a normal effect of heat.

Jayrob knows allot more about it than me, but we recently had a conversation about this very issue. and he sais a few of his mode-hop after 30-40 seconds as well, but you say yours is hopping after only a few seconds???

And i truely think it may be defective. honestly, rayfoss is known for having very good customer service "not as good as Susie's from o-like though :D" im sure they would be willing to at LEAST repair it, if not send you a new one. its always worth a shot brother, good luck!

I also BUILD high quality reliable green lasers with custom heatsinks in pocket sized hosts. PM me if this is something that interests you friend ^_^

I would be only able to ask them for a repair as of now.
I took it apart. When I reasembled it. I didn't screw down the spacer far enough.
When I screwed the main head back on it whent down to far and scratched the first lense on the tip of the actual laser modual:(
Now with that small scratch the beam picks up that scratch and looks like real crap.

I would ask you to do a custom build. Just a little worried you might have way too much work, piling on on your plate. At ten dollars a build you must be having them coming in by the boat load:)

Not really,

I am currently taking orders. the list in my build thread is really more of an organization tool for me, and also to keep the customers updated. So give it some thought

I am also able to work with the larger IR filtered green modules that range from 200-500mW's possibly higher.

I can also work with the less expensive 30mw-150mW modules. These have incredibly narrow tight beams that are perfectly focused. And the way the host's i use are built, theres no way for you to destroy anything, you could take it apart and examine it if you wish. everything will be plug and play. :D

Shoot me a PM sometime,
