Hi guys!

A few months ago i had purchased a 200mw waterproof laser found here - www.rayfoss.com

Now just a short story.

I purchased it for a guy at work and gave it to him in working condition. Over the weekend he texted me and said it would flicker and come back on when he shook it. I told him the battery was probably not making good contact with the tailcap and not to worry. I told him to bring it to work the next day and i would try and fix it. The next day at work, he told me it had stopped working completely about 30 mins after he texted me. Later that day i took a look at it and posted a thread which i had lost "i can probably find it" RA_Pierce told me how i can bypass the tailcap, so i did. It did turn on but however it was verrrrry dim. less than 5mw. I told the guy at work i need 20$ so i can ship it back and he never got back to me about it and later quit his job. So anyhow id like to either fix it or use it as my own host. I am not going to do anything without the guys permission and i can still contact him cause his brother works there. Its been nearly 3 months and the warrenty is up. So..... I want to offer to fix it myself.

I need to know how difficult it is to take apart the module inside the laser and i also want to know if anyone can identify what diode is in it and where i can get another from. Basicly i want to keep damage to the housing minimal and i would like to keep the driver and diode unharmed.

If i manage to take it apart i will upload pics and explain my efforts.

The diode/module

Tailcap end of the laser with tailcap removed.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Jeff

Hey, if you still have it, I can tell you right now that the problem is most likely with the tailcap....i had the same problem on my green waterproof from rayfoss....take a pair of tweezers or what I used(torx screwdriver heads) or just anything small that can fit into the small holes in the while plastic and brace them against each other and tighten the white plastic thing. It really works well for fixing the tailcap. Mine took a bit of effort to get it to start turning but once you tighten it a bit, the laser works great. Hope that helps!
