Hi,

I found a Casix power supply and 532 30mW DPSS head in the E waste pile at work and need help repairing it. The Head cable was cut and the black tube is about 5" long. I opened the power supply and it has a wavelength controller set to 890mA. I hooked up the head with a current limited supply and observed a nice knee around ~2V. There is no green output. I didn't check the IR output.

What next?

Is it quickest to just replace the IR laser diode? Any recommendations on a replacement part?

What about the DPSS part, do they go bad, wear out?

Thanks in advance, Bill

Could be out of alignment? Some photos of the system and its insides might help. :)

Are you sure the head and PSU you have are matched?

Quite an interesting piece of kit you've got though. :)

How exactly did you test the head? A knee around 2V sounds like you're trying to power the diode. It probably requires the 890mA the driver was set for. If there isn't any green when powering you'd have to open the head and check the output of the pump diode.
Unless it's something special like a single mode laser, I have a Coherent DPY-315 that needs to be at the right temperature or there won't be any green at the normal current.
