Ok hey guys first off parts list:

1 aixiz module
1 blu-ray diode
1 projectbox
1 heat sink
1 momentary switch
2 AA battery clips (holders)
1 flexdrive preset -110ma

Ok I need help with wiring it all up... what is the safest way (and easiest way) to connect all the comonents and power this laser up? (I have heard you need to discharge a cap... or something...)

btw am I able to hot glue the wires from flex drive to diode since my soldering iron is very dodgey.. and I have a feelin I might over heat the diode..

So thank you in advance!

Yes that seems to be all that you need.

Buy hot glueing wires is a very bad and messy way to do it soldering is alot easy and if you put the diode in a heatsink while soldering it, it will not get as hot.

What do you mean by the safest way to wire it?

The safest way is to solder it together the right way? o_O?

Use a grounding strap when soldering the components, make sure you discharge your driver before you connect the diode.

i don't think the flex drive needs that. i actually think i read that it might break it.
@bobhaha, check with dr lava before you do that. and get a 25 watt solder iron and you should be fine. also tin your connections first be for you solder. that way the will connect faster. also get a pair of helping hands from a hobby store. on the driver the plus sign is for positive battery, the minus sign for negative battery. on the opposite end the LD is for the laser diode positive and the gnd or ground is for the laser diode negative.

ok... what about the extra connector for the diode? does that get used (its a bluray).. how do discharge the cap and is it really nessassary to tin the connections?

The two insulated pins are you connections, the case pin is unused on a violet LD
To discharge any capacitor simply short it by connecting its two leads together momentarily
Yes, it is very important to tin all connections prior to soldering everything together, it makes things go much quicker and smoother

solder all the connections together and make sure the laser works before putting everything in the project box. The switch should go between the driver + batt connection and the + of your battery source.

good luck,
Kendall
