Hi all, this is my first post. And my first build.
I used:

-Aurora C6 host
-445nm M140 Diode In Copper Module With Leads*
& 405-G-2 Glass Lens
$72

-1.25A Diode Driver
-2x 16340 CR123a 1000mAh 3.7V batteries

I soldered the brass ring and the driver together. I soldered the driver to the diode. I attempted to turn it on. Not working. I never touched the wires of the diode with my hands, because I learned from LPF that this could damage the diode. Now I can not see something I did wrong, so my question is, did I get a failed diode? Or is it a damaged driver?

I am from the Netherlands btw

Thank you for your help

EDIT: It Works, I dont know why, but maybe it is the switch. Now I get a rectangular spot even if I focus the laser. Is this normal?

Re: DTR gave me a dead diode?

Hi,
I doubt very much if if DTR sold you a dead diode so forget that off the bat.He has an outstanding reputation here at the forum. Get in touch with him first before you start posting things like this. Tell him your situation he is always glad to help. Hope you solve this soon .. First you have no PSU to test the diode and you should test the driver also first or your wiring and soldering skills. This is your first build....

Hi Abudujana
Welcome to the forum.

Yes a rectangular spot is the normal form factor of the 445nm M140 Diode

Hi Abudujana
Welcome to the forum.

Thank you :D Oh I see. And is it normal that it does not have a great range. I tried focusing it a few times outside.

If you want Great range then use a 3 element lens. G2 are use primary for burning, cutting, ... If you want great range buy a single mode green diode from DTR.

Yes of course. Just order a 3 element lens from DTR. If you have questions about lasers related stuff just send me a pm.

This is great. I appreciate your help. Would you mind sending me a link to the lens that will provide the greatest range for my m140 445nm? And also, will it be easy for me to replace my lens with the new one? Thank you :)

If you want good divergence, get a beam expander. It increases your range about 5-10x depending on the one you get.

Thanks,
