MADE FOR DUMMIES BY A DUMMY:crackup:

This post is of use only by PL-D JETLASERS owners only( and afaik I have the only three so far)
pics added asap-----

***********************************************So...with the battery in (positive to the tail)and the black pin in the tailcap and orange button pressed ---THEN- press and hold blue button to make the led lights blink three times. You need to stop pressing as or before the third time the lights blink.
Stop.
Then press again once lightly and just for a short press-you should see one blink of the leds.
stop .
then do that again--
now if you have done that right the laser should come on right away or when you press once the blue button.

IF not start over with the three blinks.
:tsk:

ONCE the laser is lasing...

when you press the blue button once-you will get one power- if you then press the grey button the laser will pulse(slow strobe)at the same power-
press the grey button and the pulse stops and goes back to CW.

Press the blue and the power will change and again the grey will take you to pulse at that power and back when pressed again.

Press the blue once again and you will see the last power- and again to see pulsed press the grey for pulse and again to go back to CW.

To shut down the laser for a short while but leave ready to use just press the blue button for two or three seconds then release the laser should turn off..
the laser will stop but the leds and blue light will remain on-- dont worry they do not use up the battery very much.:undecided:

To shut down the laser completely simply press the orange button. To make it completely safe remove the black pin near the orange button on the tailcap.

Each laser wavelenght and power may have a different duty/rest cycle- see your manual(on-line for your correct cycle):yh:

While most PL-Cs and PL-Ds take one 18650 neg to the front some like the 445s and 405s use TWO 16340s.

Powerful lasers use a lot of power-:yabbem:

And their batteries need recharging if appearing dimmer or you see flickering. IF you meter your battery and it has dropped below 3.4 volts you need to recharge.

After you go through these steps a few times it becomes no problem- the laser is quite safe in anyones hands when completely off-(G.L. figuring the above out alone)And you have no keys to keep (or lose).

With the tailpin removed the lasr is totally safe- if not being used for a long period remove the battery.

This is the easy way to operate the new JETLASERS PL-D with the SuperSwitch. .... so easy a cave man can do it(once you know the steps)

edit...........
Quick important note
While some kind of sticker etc to keep dust out of the opening in theTi-b and PL-D(or for that matter any laser with nothing in place to keep dust out) may be a good idea... be VERY sure you take it off BEFORE entering the code- the PL-D(and Ti-B or any laser w/o a shutter) laser is not as easy or quick to shut down and you can smoke the sticker real fast- I am rethinking even using one. I had a close call with my 445/1W PL-D. If come across a better way I will share it- you plz do same.
Maybe a plastic slide-on cap-- you could make a small hole in the center and JB Weld a small piece of the JETL glass diff grate over the hole- dual purpose.

Jerry[/QUOTE

True Dat=except two of these will have new owners and I suspect many more will want a PL-D especially once they have seen one so.....
The instruction that is available from JETLASER on his switch is not the best but once it is figured out it does finally make sense--thier youtube vids on the switch have no sound- are somewhat blurry and like most amature photographers there is too much background and not enough detail of what they are doing.... the vids need to be made in closeup.

I was curious tho if the SmartSwitch in the WL 445 was the same or very similiar..++I only got to handlethe one Steve sent Dr Chuck for a few moments and it was already on.

I really like the craftmanship of the JETL PL-D and would not trade two WLs for one JETL 445 1W-PL-D.

GB#6 for JETLAERS MAY be the last-IDK for sure- if you want a quality pro handheld in 635/650/532/or 445-- get in on #6-- the GB price is the wholesale price paid by re-sellers buying in bulk.

well trust me on this- Corbin..-use my guide to learn the switch as the one currenty in the JETL manual will drive you crazy-- even Gray had to take two days to 'master' it and if you watch the JETL vids you can see the girl with the black fingernails taking three tries to 'NAIL' it. I think JETL is going to use my guide to print out and send along with the PL-Ds

Those owning WL 445s will prolly catch on quicker as IIRC they are similar.

cheers to everybody-- 7 DAYS TILL SELEM____WOOT!!

Question is-- what keeps your strongbox locked-- a key ...good luck if you lose it.But if you are using a combination lock-- what would be the diff.???lol

cant lose a combination... you can forget it, but not 'lose' it... I will let you try out a PL-D at SELEM if you want-- if you dont , so what?? I like it now that I know how to use it.

cheers Hak

Unfortunately it was my ovn fault, had mixed the batteries up with the ones for my PL-C 532nm 600mv ones i received at the same time, so with the right batteri it is lasing, but my 532 seems to have died, because i used the two 16340 batteries from the PL-D 445nm:yabbem::cryyy:
If just they had added some papers with the lasers in the package, explaining witch batteries goes with each one..

Wait a minute, did you not know your 532 was a plc an took 1 18650 and did you know your 445 was a pl-d and took 2 16340s or did you have no idea?

SORRY to hear this.. I have pointed out many times in threads and posts about the 405 &445 series PLs- they and only them use two 16340s- to attain ~7.2+ v all the other PLs take ONE 18650+ 3.7 to 4.2 v but sadly I assume not what it was getting from the 16430s. AFAIK all JETLs have reverse polarity protection but not apparently protection for your laser. I would not be surprized if Gray would get it rebuilt for you and do it at a fair cost- hes a good guy.

Keep me in the loop and GL

Len

The same thing happened to me but luckily in revrerse- I thought the 1W 445 was WAY underspec at only ~350 mWs until I remembered that it needs two 16340s- no harm done in my case- just embarrassment. I put labels on all mine showing polarity and batts req. (and my name too)

there has to be an easier way. It sure is extremely annoying. I got my laser today hak, and have got it turned on one time. Nobody else can get the damn code right either.

LOVE THE LASER, HATE THE SWITCH

Any tips on the code? No matter what the last button press always flashes the led's twice instead of once and wont unlock.
