MANY cheap modules (especially in pen lasers) are only rated for 60-90 second burns.

Check the switch and connections.
Bypass it if you can, to see if that's the problem.
A lot of modules have garbage switches in them.

also it was a cheepy DX 20mW module probably not quite 20 but still fairly bright
im thinking it could have been the switch i bypassed it and used the clicky switch on the host n since its been working well

fairly new to LPF still haven't figured out how to uploads pics only some beam shots n of the host haha, do i need to upload them to another site or some thing, thanks again every one for the info,

On your post there should be a picture of mountains in the formatting bar. Upload your picture to photobucket or something and copy the link.:)

I suppose the benefit is from the host being a good heatsink, not from a faulty switch to begin with. A major problem with green lasers is that they are very temperature sensitive, and may dim from the module heating up after some time more than anything else.

Faulty switch problems do exist though - especially in pointers where you have to keep a button pressed for continous output. They often use small circuitboard mount switches that are by no means rated for the current running through them.
