Green laser is dimmer and battery issue

Hi, guys. I bought a cheap green laser last few weeks ago. The green laser was fairly bright at first but it has been somewhat dimmer since my 16340 battery was completely drained for the first time and also fully charged for the first time.
The laser is no longer as bright as it used to be at first.

Besides, the bottom part of my battery is slightly punctured due to the battery spring or coil. May I know is it still safe to be used?

Thank You.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
If your battery is punctured at all, it is not safe to use.
Time to get a new one.

Punctured or dented/marked? I've seen the latter more than once - far from a puncture.

What kind of 16340 battery is it? Anything with 'fire' on it should not be used. They are dangerous batteries and are very often defective.

Even the worst lithium cells can easily supply the 200-600mA of a cheap green. Your pointer has likely degraded in some way. Alignment shifting is one guess. That's just inherent to cheap DPSS. Buy a better one next time.
