The lavadrive MUST have a load attached to it (a diode, a test load, etc.) *Otherwise it keeps trying to boost the voltage to make the connection through the air!!! *It is running so much voltage through it that it is heating up and will eventually overheat and die. *USE A LOAD

Peace,
dave

a test load is something you hook up to it. its a simple circuit board that helps you test the out put of the circuit board while you adjust it

Most boost drivers will die completely and instantly without a load, and I'm pretty sure this was the case with the v1 lava drives.

I think the open circuit protection of the new lavadrives are a zener with a higher voltage than our diode lasers. So I wonder why it would get hot?
